"Flying the colors" is maritime-speak for flying flags or ensigns on a ship. The tabletop sculpture takes this idea with four black wood foundry molds and runs with it. Their original purpose isn't known, but their flag-like appearance provides a compelling vision in a Mid-Century Modern kind of way. Each mold is connected to bent steel rods and inserted into a fine walnut wood base.
