Boston Harbor Oak
What you are looking at is a piece of New England history. Over the years, tons of white oak has been salvaged from Boston's waterfront. Used for pilings and docks, this old-growth timber has certainly seen its share of action. The chunk of white oak arrived as you would imagine, very rough and seasoned from years underground or under water. I cleaned it up on the band saw. Good thing a cube only has 6 sides because this bulletproof wood dulled the blade after the sixth pass. The oak cube comes mounted at its axis on a turned maple base.
Medium:
Oak, Maple, and Steel
Dimensions:
17” tall x 7” wide x 7” deep
