Like little individual paintings, these Hawaiian mango blocks offer intriguing patterns and grain structures. This wood species (yes the tree that grows mangoes) is subject to spalting which produces this kaleidoscope of colors. Some of the blocks exhibit "figuring" which display three-dimensional ribbons right under the surface. The wooden grain structures range from straight to gonzo. Each mango block is mounted over black burlap and framed in curly maple.
