Accent Lights

Decorative Accent Lights for Tables or Shelves

When you need to add illumination to a dark corner, bookshelf, or hallway table, standard lamps can come up short. A little variety can go a long way, so why not let the accent lights at MiglioDesign provide the visual interest needed to transform your space? Incorporating foundry molds, vacuum tubes, or wooden shoe lasts, these unusual sculptures are like no other. Each original work of art features cloth-covered lamp cord, plugs, and bulbs. All pieces and components come together to offer vintage decor with a warm glow.

Wooden shoe forms, called a “last”, after the Old English word for “footprint”, were the molds cobblers used to build a shoe's basic shape. Lasts were made for shoes of every style and foot size, for men and women. You can probably imagine the large number of forms that were made over the years. They certainly exude a sense of decoration, but what to do with them? Turning shoe lasts into accent lights only happens at MiglioDesign.

Wood box molds are commonly made for casting pipes and flanges. Their design is the opposite of a positive foundry mold, with the object existing as negative space inside the two sides of the box. It's this negative space that provides the ideal location to insert bulbs and sockets. The shape of the bulb used is directly dependent upon the shape inside the box mold.

Steampunk is a romanticized science fiction genre based on Victorian-era industrial machinery. It's an unmistakable style that's been applied to art, clothing, jewelry, and other disciplines. MiglioDesign features one such piece, The Victor Apparatus, that combines vacuum tubes, foundry molds, and gauges into a Steampunk mystery device. LED strip lighting is weaved inside throughout to provide glowing illumination. It's a standalone piece that dominates its surroundings with a sense of fun and wonder.
