In my experience working with wood in various capacities, what it would take to produce this wooden foundry pattern is beyond my capabilities. This thing, which looks like some sort of exhaust pipe, twists and turns in multiple directions yet does it very accurately (for casting purposes). The mold is made from both cherry and mahogany and sports a smooth finished surface - really a pleasure to hold and appreciate. Whoever the patternmaker was, his workmanship is exemplary.
