What began as an intact 14” diameter wooden foundry mold (see image #11), has since been separated into three sections and re-imagined. The wooden mold was fabricated from multiple layers of soft pine glued together (which are plainly visible). The warm glow of the exposed wood softens the significance of the gear’s original purpose.
